Sandworm Mutant
Vehicle Details
Go see drawings of the mutant vehicle.
Go see pictures of the worm as seen in the wild.
We are building Shai-Hulud, a Dune inspired Sandworm. A monster evolved for the desert! Underneath the worm's skin is a former airport shuttle bus.

The bus will be entirely hidden by the structure of
the worm. There will be a platform on top for Fremen and others to ride. A welded steel structure forms
the platform on top and structure that supports a series of heavy PVC tube ribs. People are actually in
a bucket 6' wide by 16 feet long, with railing all around. The (top) driver will appear to be steering with ropes.
The three-part mouth opens to reveal an array
of nasty big teeth
and a terrible roar from the sound system. The mouth also turns side to side. The tail end appears to bend downward and disappear underground. The skin is cloth, such as fire-proofed burlap or shade cloth, on a rib structure.
We plan on adding lighting, so that
the sandwom will glow at night. The worm's mouth will be illuminated to highlight the white teeth and red glow.
The overall effect is of a dirt-colored monster, covered with armored hide, composed of overlapping plates, with people riding on top.
